This happened with one particular small AT stud. The story and scary pictures have been moved to this page so that sensitive people will not see it by accident.

Why do we ask for help
frankly, chronologically:

1988-1997 - the pony club and the Akhal-Teke breeding farm started in Tahskent successfully continued in Kaliningrad (Russia).

1997 -a barn fire (two purposely done attempts to clear the favorable place in the central park) completely burned the barn and killed one Akhal-Teke stallion and one shetland pony. Some other horses were injured, i.e. stallion Sanjar had a seriously burned back.

1998 - the pony club (the profit from it was enough to take care of the small stud) was forced out of the city park. We were trying to earn money other ways and looking for buyers for the Akhal-Teke.

August 1998 - financial crisis in Russia, no paid students at all since then. Cost of everything jumped up trice. Family members and friends were helping to cope with the crisis. Just in time came completely unexpected money from Canada.

September 1998 - big troubles with the renting barn place. A part of the stud was sent to a remote rural farm, the owner of which promised to take a good care of them in exchange for a horse to keep. There was the least expected result of this rational move.

November 1998 - we found out that the horses sent to the farm were not taken care of properly (two of them came to starvation) and immediately brought them back.

December 1998 - we started making some real plans to save the horses together with new American friends; some donated money arrived from USA.

January 1999 - our Akhal-Tekes are not in danger of starvation now, but there is a big work ahead to achieve the permanent solution, to make sure that the horrible days of the fall of 1998 will never happen again. The horses are waiting for people (and for new owners) to help them in all ways. Akhal-Tekes always pay back for good things done to them.
